Commodity Resource Management In Africa And The Middle East

Our principal customers are the Trade & Commodity Finance teams of international banks who finance imports and exports of commodities in Africa. In addition, we also work for corporates and trade houses involved in commodity flows.

Normal deal sizes are $10 – $30 million range for one year revolving facilities.

Drum Commodities is a “Collateral Manager”, offering a range of services that are ‘risk mitigants’ for each transaction.

We are the “ears and eyes” for our customers on the ground covering;

• Monitoring of goods to and from a port
• Warehouse / tank farm receipts that enable product to be “pledged” to a bank / lender
• Stock reporting
• Release mechanisms for the bank when the borrower makes payments

• Approximately 80% are banks including Absa/Barclays, BCV (Banque Cantonale Vaudoise), BCP (Banque de Commerce et de Placements), BNP Paribas, BMCE, FBN (First Bank of Nigeria), Credit Agricole, FCMB (First City Monument Bank), Natixis, Nedbank, Rand Merchant, Skye, Standard Bank / Stanbic and Standard Chartered Bank.
• 20% include international trade houses such as Armajaro, Augusta, Continaf, Bauche, Bunge, ED&F Man, Novel, Premium Tobacco and Theobroma.
